Emergency: (Scroll down to the bottom of this page for emergency contact resources, USCG, etc)

Conventional telephone, Skype and Email: At our office in Florida, we maintain a Skype account for international voice & video conference calls. When Capt Bob is out of the office away an answering machine will answer incoming calls. Calling the office, cell number above or the Skype name above are the most reliable ways to reach Bob quickly. Incoming Skype calls if unanswered are automatically transferred to the cell phone number. If you are unable to reach Bob via any phone of the above numbers please leave a message on the office or cell phone with your name, situation, position report, contact info, etc.

Cellular telephone: Having cellular telephone service at sea or internationally is very unpredicatable. Having cellular service is dependent on several factors. 1. The user must be within range of a working cell site. For today's cell phones this is about five miles. 2. The cell phone itself must be compatible with the cell service offered in that country, (TDMA, CDMA, GSM, etc). And 3. The user must have a service agreement, (local or roaming), with that country's cell phone company. Seldom are all these factors in place during an offshore passage.

Emergency Communications: If you have an emergency and need to get in touch with a vessel, Capt Bob or a crew member aboard ship we have listed several useful resources below. See the web links for these safety organizations and radio nets below. The linked web pages contain the names and phone numbers of many regular net operators. A simple phone call or email to any one of the services or operators is usually sufficient to start an effort by that service to provide help. Often a call to one service initiates efforts by several services.
